this amp is actually a 200watt amp at 8 ohms and 400w at 4 ohms....how come?1. rails are at +/-70 volts, therefore assuming 2.5 volts power transistor saturation, the maximum peak to peak output volts is therefore +/- 67.5 volts.2. assuming that the power transformer voltage drops another 5 volts at full power, then the rails drop further to +/- 62 volts...3. and so the maximum rms output volts with an 8 ohm resistor load is about 44 volts r.m.s...4. this is equivalent to 240 watts.....depending on the how big your power transformer is, this fugure can be lower....5. at 4 ohms load, power should theoretically double, but in reality it does not, because your power transformer may not be big enough to support such power.6. and even if your power transformer is big enough, there is another consideration, that is how efficient is your heatsink in removing heat generated. what is the SOA? is your output transistor pairs enough to handle the 4 ohm load?
