I think license is only important in the field of telecoms but on the other field of
electronics such as semicon, manufacturing, servicing and so on industry, license
is not a must....even if you are interviewed, they are not asking if you are a license
or not, they are asking your expertise/skill on the field you are applying for....
PRC should review why an ECE need to get a license that is not much needed in the field,
additional expense and hardwork for a newly graduates...they should think about a
certain graduates that cannot take a review due to financial needs....
PRC should also make ECE an INSTANT ENGINEER (IE)... ;D

totoo daw yan.. kahit ang school hinde na rin nila tinatanong o kung matanong man, little portion lang ng buong interview time... then sa experience at skills sila madaming tanong during interview...

kong gusto talaga nating magamit yong license natin mag-apply tayo doon sa mga companies, agencies or establishments na required ang license such as Radio and TV Broadcast Stations, Cable TV Company, NTC, ECE schools at iba pa. AMEN!

I will give you two examples

1. I met a VoIP consultant and also working as  Network engineer sa isang ISP (Internet Service Provider) somewhere sa Makati. sa madaling salita kinaibigan ko kasi madami alam sa network and some LINUX stuff e baka nga naman swertehin at maturuuan ako... so somewhere along our conversation i asked him kung what engineering course ang natapos nya ECE ba o CoE? sagot nya wala... I just finished fine arts,... layo no??? I thought at first he was kidding but honestly he is serious when he told me that because of his extensive knowledge sa networking and LINUX system kaya sya na hire and take not he earns more than i do,.

another example... a mere highschool graduate who is more experts in Predictive dialer system and also a VoIP consultant sa manila earns a $200USD per hour to maintain the LINUX based dialer at nakasama ko sya sa isang call center... right now he is part of the OPEN SOurce telephony software and maintaining no more than ten call centers

So i think e depende sa isang company kung strict sila when it comes to credentials etc...ako i admit na ndi ako board passer but planning to take sana kaya lang mas priority ko na sana ang CISCO crtifications and plan to take up CCNA?

yup yup yup. I even heard of a Mechanical Engineer na well versed sa semiconductor mas may alam pa sa ibang Electronics Engineer. ;D

yong mga big electronics, communications and IT companies na naglalagay ng mga unlicensed ECE in some of their key positions at binaliwala lang ang mga licensed ECEs', their days are numbered! Kasama na dito pati IT or computer network companies. Siyempre skills pa rin talaga hinahanap ng mga companies without sacrificing or ignoring what is required by law.  Kaya nga pag nag hire sila mga engineers, experience hinahanap nila, just like this. "Wanted Computer Network Engineers.  Requirements: must be licensed ECE, with experience in computer network installation, operation and maintenance, CCNA certification is an advantage but not required, at iba pang mga requirements na gusto ng companies.

bad news yan sa mga technicians na napromote as engineers... marami kasi sa amin dito ang mga techicians na napromote because of superb skills and their way of thinking... saan mo nakuha yang balitang yan?

Mag inquire ka sa IECEP dyan sa location nyo dahil pati mga technicians bibigyan kayo ng professional license as Electronics Technician (EcT) without examination until august or october 2009 yata after complying all necessary requirements.

ei may tanong ako para sa mga skillful people, i know that this is a stupid question....

quoted from Jack Ganssle: (pero not sure kung in his words pa)

"Experience doesn't correlate to fast, knowledge does."

example nito sa isang company. may mga tao na sabay sabay pumasok and basically same length of time na na-experience nila yung ginagawa. pero merong mas mag-eexcel and most of the times eto yung taong matanong kung bakit, at paano at sinasapuso nila yung sagot. ;)

I am not a skillful person, this is just my observation. ;D

Kong technically related yong position nila ngayon, walang problema, mabibigayan pa rin sila ng license as electronics technician once they can comply the necessary requirements and pertinent documents such as transcript of records, certificate of training and seminars, manpower, tesda or cisco certifications, certificate of employment or service records.
