I know, but are there still standing waves if Zo and Zl are not matched?

Meron siguro, although I haven't given it much thought and designing a gamma match would be a huge project hehehehe...

Anyways, di ba ito yung ini-exploit ng mga power savers, they use power factor correction? (tama ba ako?)
I make anything from something to nothing

As an electrical engineering student, I studied advanced power systems as an elective. Very long transmission lines in the thousands KM long will have such effect. These result in undesirable voltage rises/drops on certain points of the line. They are taken into account on some transmission systems in some large power distribution grids like in the US, Europe and Russia.

so kapag malalaking power grids may standing waves din pala.

on long transmission lines, there is what is known as reflected waves......in fact losses are caused by line characteristics like capacitance and inductance....

on three phase lines, you wiil finde that the 3 wires are transposed at some point or points, the reason for these is to minimize these effecs...
