typically 3, Tx, Rx, GND. kung referring to I/O pins, 2 lang. mostly UART ang interface. 'yung 8051 may built-in UART na.

software UART.

TX and RX are part of UART.

can GSM module have the ability to recognize sent an unsent message and log it directly?

log it where? the module will return whether the message transmission had an error in sending i.e. unsent.

in a .txt format. It is for the compilation of all messages unsent/sent that can be printed out.
