Depende sa application mo.

Wiindows is no good for real time apps because of its muti-tasking capability.
Pero OK sya for most data processing and graphics processing apps. Linux has a version that is optimized for real time apps.

DOS (MS-DOS, Datalight DOS, ROM DOS, DR DOS, X DOS, FreeDOS, etc) for real time apps is OK and remains popular.

Siyempre for cellphones me kanya kanyang preference din. Symbian, Windows CE, etc...

For parallel computing, the OS of Cray and other mainframes are quite powerful too.

The world, as everybody knows, is analog; unless, of course, it's digitized.

Gentoo.

1.) Since it is very versatile. Can do a lot of things depending on how you customize it.
2.) Can directly run sourecodes easily
3.) Again very customizable making it "powerful"
4.) Can also adapt to most applications such as RTOS etc etc

mas ok nga ang OpenSUSE. ang gusto ko lang sa Ubuntu is 'yung lawak ng support group. Copy mo lang 'yung error message, 90% of the times, may sagot na sa internet. ;D

Yup tried it. Ayus lang. But the USB version is somewhat limited. Most packages hindi naka installed dito. Just enough to basically run the OS. Pero perfect siya specially for troubleshooting. Handy sya tipong kung may pc nag crash tapos hindi mo alam kung sira ung OS or hardware. You can also mount NTFS on mint usb version.

For software intended for specific task, Linux OS is the best. But for multi-tasking software applications Windows is a very versatile OS. I have read that the "Roadrunner" supercomputer will be running in Linux.
