Don't be too discouraged at this time. R&D is a very broad field and although ideally you should, you don't have to know everything. As I said, ang fundamentals (like math, science and engineering) are very important. As you gain experience, you become more aware kung anung babantayin in your area of responsibility. Kung ang responsibility mo ay PCB design and passing electromagnetic compatibility tests, mas aware ka dyan. If you are on a different area, less so.

What is important is finding a path to your desired field. And becoming really good (an expert) in that specific area is most important. Kasi kung expert ka in your specific area, you can command a high pay. And that's what this thread is all about, di ba?

i always wanted to be in RnD, but i ended up getting jobs other than RnD.....

in the end, i was able to see my kids thru college and has some savings left and in a couple of years will be getting pensions, these should be enough to see me thru.....

i think all factors are to be taken in....what is it that you want?

if it is just money you want, trust me, it will not make you happy.....

actually, tungkol sa grounding 'yung tanong, in-elaborate ko lang 'yung discussion about the ideal world na meron pa ring EM.

kahit 'di ka pa rin decided kung ano gusto mo, mag-job hunt ka pa rin, you'll never know if in the end, gusto mo pala 'yung field ng mapupuntahan mong trabaho. honestly, ayaw ko sana pumasok doon sa first company ko dahil merong better choices, what's done is done, kaya nandito na rin ako, at nagustuhan ko rin ang Power Electronics dahil doon.
