Interfacing GLOBE TATTOO to ARDUINO(mcu) - kaya ba?
« on: June 28, 2010, 11:19:40 AM »
these is my system

GPS + GSM + arduino (mcu) + memory storage (undecided);
it is a tracking device

alternative design would be:

GPS + GLOBE TATTOO + arduino (mcu) = much cheaper device!
i eliminated the gsm and memory storage kasi may mini sd card reader na ang huawei e1552

PROBLEM: pano iinterface ang isang USB device to MCU? kpag sinaksak ko ba un na un, kapag nbreakout ko na ung pins into the microcon? ok na? wla nang driver na kelangan?

THANKS, you can ask for clarification

So kailangan yung mcu mo would be the USB master.  I think may mga USB master chips na pwede mag interface to mcu.

check mo to, baka makatulong

ALTERNATIVE DESIGN

ACTUAL

kapag gumamit bako ng adapter at masaksak ko ung GLOBETATTOO makakausap ko na ung device through AT commands? or is there a protocol? or driver that should be done/needed?

You need a USB host hardware to the arduino like this: http://www.solarbotics.com/products/18892/

IMHO, it is cheaper to buy and easier to build/program a GSM modem directly than this solution.

bale, may microcon kasi na meron nang TYPE B usb port. like the picture i posted above. tas may adapter na type b to usb type a. edi masasaksak kona ung globe tattoo. then at commands na???

I also attempted to do what you want. pero sa PIC micro ko sana ikakabit ang HSDPA modem.

Pero same din ang sagot ni sir RD and Sir zer0 sa tanong ko noon. but let me reiterate what they just replied on the thread.

Ang USB po basically may dalawang type. Host and device. ang USB flash drive natin ay USB device. and PC natin ay USB HOST. ang USB HSDPA modems na nabibili dyan sa paligid-ligid ay USB DEVICE. ibig sabihin, ikakabit dapat yan sa USB HOST.
BTW, Smart Bro and Globe tattoo plug-it is the HSDPA mode I am referring.

Now, if you insist to use Globe tattoo or SMART Bro plug-it in Arduino, you must first implement a USB HOST hardware before connecting it. Mahal ang USB host hardwares...

Alternatively, you could use MCUs that have a USB host capability.

1k for the modem, then how much more for the USB host and the time to program it. whereas, nasa 3k lang 'yung GSM modem na UART ang interface.

sir zer0w1ng,

ok, unti unti ko na pong nagegets.

i need a USB HOST for my ARDUINO, para masaksakan sya ng client device. so the arduino became a HOST and CLIENT at the same time.

okay so may driver part pa, timing ekek, maraming aaralin, at mahal daw.

SALAMAT MGA SIR! haha goodluck sakin
