Uncle Ho, ano po ba ang latest communication na gamit ngayon sa teleprotection yong pong gamit sa Distance Relay (Device 21).

Depende sa OEM ng planta yan. Like for example in 3 previous plants that I worked with, puro Siemens sila so expect siemens hybrid relays ( they cover differential, distance, line to ground, & phase to phase faults). Yung last one before this plant was Alstom so expect a European design but definitely not Siemens - kundi Alstom or ABB brand. Kapag Hapon ang OEM like Toshiba & Mitsubishi ( ie Calaca Coal Fired plant) - expect Japanese designs. Kung Korean naman  ( ie Doosan Heavy Industries, Samsung), medyo compromising sila for marketability. They normally combine force with these European  and American OEMs. Lahat ng links now are either thru microwave links or fibre optic cables. Wala na nung RF modems ( 300bps!!!)

Dedicated po ba yong microwave link o naka link sa commercial companies, i mean pag aari po ba ng companya ang microwave communication na ginagamit sa teleprotection o naka hook lang sila sa private commercial microwave communication kagaya ng smart o globe. At saka yong pong fiber optics link, is it  layout along the transmission line? Is it an earial line o underground line? kasi it would go as far as 100km or more di po ba?

remember it's protection so it's not safe if communication is done through  commercial companies. about your question on the fiber optic link it depends on the design.
