sms based led messageboard (using Arduino or PIC)

this is our proposed title for our project. Can you please help me on where to start with this project. something like a block diagram would help. What topics should I study regarding the said topic.

is arduino usable? or pic is prefered?

im somewhat clueless but I really want to learn its just i don't know where to start. 

i've seen videos in youtube where they use arduino and it makes me wonder how will the content of a text message be shown in the the led display. (using the gsm module).

Pins po para saan? hindi ko pa po alam ang pins na gagamitin ko. pin po ba yung sa MCU??
San po ako dapat mag start para sa project namin? magaaral po ako.

may alam po ba kayo na pwede mapagaralan or makita ang block diagram ng sms led messageboard?? para po alam ko sesearch ko pasensya na po marami akong tanong

Think first how to make an LED message board next figure out your block diagram like how would you connect it with the mcu. then try to communicate with the GSM then interface them all together.
