Running message display
« on: January 26, 2008, 11:10:05 AM »

meron documentation nyan sa zilog website, running message ginamitan ng micro. gayahin mo nalang schematic but remove the microcontroller

since they are using the PC mismo to control directly the LED matrix, baga parallel port gamit nila. Madali kasi yun.

puwedeng puwede itong gawin... kahit walang microcontroller puwedeng puwede....

2. at bakit 50 characters? ang english alphabet ay may 26 characters at numbers from 0-10... less than 50 lang ata to.. [gagamit ka ba ng special characters?]

Maybe he means that the circuit has to handle from 20 to 50 character combinations as input.

sure it can be done without using a microcontroller...

but it will be a big mess :D

i remember a friend did it by using lots of johnson counters and an eeprom...

inputting the characters using dip switches bit by bit... :)

This can be done without a microprocessor. I was planning even to make one just to prove a point.

To do this, you need an EPROM, a clock, shift registers, an address generator (CD4040 or likes), a line selector (CD4017) and some glue-logic gates.  The EEPROM is pre-proprammed with the moving patterns that is pre-computed on a PC and burned in it.

But using a microprocessor is much easier to do.

I agree, feasible sya... Pero in terms of cost and number of components, I think uC wins.

di ko naisip na di gamitan ng mcu kasi mahirap talaga yan unless magiging PC based siya using parallel port. you can use vb to controll your ckt.  pero i suggest you use mcu para mas mapadali ang buhay. heheh... if you like using mcu.. try mo to http://www.electronicslab.ph/forum/index.php?topic=314.msg4107#msg4107
yan kasi thesis namin..

Madali lang ito ...

SAMPLE sa mga BUS di ba may MGA MESSAGE "MMDA or minsan eh comercial" or sa JEEP minsan biyahe eh EDSA at CUBAO

So running display na yun tama ba ako???  ???
