How about we organize a sumo robot competition, we start with us, as inidividuals and hobbiests.

It will be hard for us for the meantime to get sponsors because most semiconductor companies only supports academic institutions.

So we can start on our own as a part of our hobbies.

All we need to set is the maximum size for the robot and the diameter of the platform, then we are all set.

Try nating i-localize muna ang ang mga competition.

Pwede ring pumasok tayo sa mga schools.

sali ako dyan. since ala pa nman ginagawa ako pwedeng organize natin yan. pra naman di tayo mahuli sa ibang bansa. malay nyo this is a small step pra makilala nman ece sa other countries. ganyan naman kasi tlga labanan kelangan maingay lang tayo at hindi ningas kugon. nakikilala lang kasi bansa natin sa kalokohan ng gobyerno natin. hehehe..

cguro gawa muna tayo ng steering committee...
gawa tayo ng sample robot.
mag conduct ng seminar at workshop sa mga schools.
then set the contest.

I agree. sino kya pwedeng mag head ng project na ito sa atin. sana yung may connection sa mga schools. ang gandang panimula ito. huwag lang sanang ningas kugon. malay nyo makapagtayo tyo nga R&D sa pinas.

Malaki ang maitutulong sa atin ng mga tao na nasa academe dito, pwede gawin ng mga instructors na part ito sa games during engineering week.

Pag sumikat na, pwede na ito gawin interschool, localize lang muna.

Kahit ano na micro pwede gamitin, wag natin i-close or i-limit ang mga sarili natin sa iisang micro, mas maganda yung marami tayo options, mas marami tayo matututunan.

If i'm not mistaken, merong mobile robot competition sa festival mall alabang on feb. 23.

I think our school, UP-ITTC, will be fielding two mobots for the said contest.

maganda ito, kailangan ba puwede simulan?

1. sana walang lego mindstorm sumo bots... sana custom robots..
2. mahirap mag-organize ng ganito pero sasama ako sa pag organize neto...
3. kahit maliit ang prize sa first lauch ok lang, ang malaha mapalawig natin ang RObotics sa Pilipinas
4. at sana may ADVANCE CAtegory...[sana matalo natin ang ZILOG MADC].... hehehe joke...
what i mean is, kailangan siguro ng competition na hindi lang tulad ng zilog kasi panay na lang zilog..
sana OPEN category sa microcontroller at higit sa lahat sana BEAM robots ang tatalo sa mga microcontroller based robots... hehehehehehe

for clarification. the MADC is organized by IEEE phil section. zilog and dost-pcastrd are the major sponsors.
zilog MADC ang dating dahil kaya nilang magprovide ng libreng chips at development tools sa mga schools.
if microchip and freescale and other mcu manufacturer can do the same, mas magiging masaya dahil maraming libreng chips na tayo
at support.

If we can request other mcu manufacturer like Renesas, Hitachi, Microchip, Freescale and others to sponsor such that contest.
Then we can see a lot of different Robots/Application that is power by different mcu.

hahay sana ang availability ng mga components dito sa cebu tulad ng sa manila, kahit yung simpling IR sensor ang hirap hanapin dito
