Still on my to do list is to add GSM functionality to the NE2SS but I'm finding it hard to learn BASIC and even C for the 8051 platform specifically on the h/w specific part  ...  configuring the h/w timer as the baud rate generator for the rs232 serial port, namemental block na ako pag sinisimulan ko pag-aralan.

Since I have a parked project of creating a new firmware for the epe sms controller which uses an atmega8515 and the atmega8515 being pin to pin compatible with the AT89S52,  I have decided to go the route via atmega8515.  Besides that, I will be able to work on a free but fully functional AVR-GCC instead of a crippleware BASCOM AVR/8051.  GSM related code alone will eat up about 4K which is the demo limit for BASCOM  ... besides, its hard to get decent gsm features with only 256 byte of RAM to spare on the AT89S52.

Its always nice to have discount, it makes us all happy - what more,  the 1diyTEAM and GADGET allow stagnant payment specialy sa mga student,  see this link on the web  :    http://www.1diycentre.com/estoreMCU.htm    (Your Support and Purchase of 1diycentre e’store products is a support to our fellow  hobbyist).

THE SIMPLE Micro Controller Programming - Part 4, a shareware and courseware series of dox described the NE2ss using the AVR - ATmega8515 / AT90S8515,  The NE3 used the ATmega32A.   The NE3 is OEM version,  while NE2ss is a LEARNING PLATFORM, which of course, no one can stop you to utilized it to a commercial version (but you must learn the way).

The idea behind NE2ss Learning Platform is to have the ABCD+P learning to  program micros, idea ito ng authour at may ari ng Heart Systems, Baguio City.  Ito ay :
A = Assembly
B = Basic
C = C language
D = Drawing or Graphical Programming
P = Pascal

The Team 1diy and GADGET (thanks to the Author) released the series 1~3,  alpha released on part 4 (NE2ss-aVR),  part 5 with NE2ss-STC (high speed 8051 at 35 MHz  with Analog to Digital version), part 6 NE2ss-PIC  <writing dox is sleeping for a year now>,   part 7  NE2ss - ARM  <oocchhh!  this is tough...really!,>.   It is learning different  programming language with different chipset,  it is an adventure.   Of course, para sa mga interesado walking from A---D and P.    At the end,  you can tell to us which Programming Language is the best for you.

Iyong Chipset na 8051 - we can realized the ABCD+P programming language already, but of course,  lagyan naman natin ng kaunting ingridience sa recipe ng common learning platform, kaya isinama ang ibang chipset,  we have been debating to use very-very low cost chipset like the EMC (Ellan Microlectronic Corp),  Holtek, but then, it  was concluded to have AVR, PIC and ARM (STM32) and explore more on the 8051  with latest version like high speed up, AD, USB function,

By design, the hardware have limitations - but as a "good firmware developer",  you can tweak those hardware limitaitons.  It is proven by our team that,  even a non-pin-to-pin comptaible with the original design, it can work with other MCU like the  EMC mcu ,  STM32 or PIC,  you can use a daughter board to adapt the hardware  incompatibility.

Besides, the learning platform descibed as "SIMPLE micro Programming".   So where is the Complex micro Programming? Where can we find those tricks and tweaks in  programming?  I guess, they are in your own code.  Alright then, someone share the the SIMPLE micro Programming,  anyone like to share the COMPLEX Programming, hehehehe.

Someone  do not believe that,  ESD  (Electrostatic Discharge) testing with +/- 10KV  (Kilovolt) that will hit on the product running by a MCU can be solved by Software instead of hardware by putting more ESD protective device.

Well,  NE2ss is for Learning Platform but it can be converted into a personal Security Systems and Monitoring, if you got board with the basic,  try to implemen the Sensor Central Station described in the Product/Project Specifications part 3, hindi na ito SIMPLE,  once you implement this idea,  the programming will become COMPLEX.   You can download  the freeware and courseware  dox  at  http://www.1diycentre.com/.

Its another adventure,  link the NE2ss via Bluetooth or Zigbee to the Sensor Central Station.  If you got board of it, connect it to the WWW via a UART--->Internet Module.

What?  ucos II on the NE2ss?

The team acquire a new chipset from STC-a high speed 8051 (sabi eh 1T 8051 o one crystal pulse to execute an instruction) than can run faster than other MCU in the arena of 8 bit (they claimed but, I prefer na manahimik ako),  which has a lot of ROM code up to 64Kbytes and I am not sure if it can run up to 80 MHz, hindi mabasa specs dahil intsik eh,   trying the touch screen LCD with ucosII OS,  a menu driven touch screen on the 3.2 inch LCD.

Mahirap daw,  STM32 na lang daw.

Salamat.....   Kung may suggestions po kayo, please let us know how to make it LC (Low Cost).   I am sure, the hardware is not yet optimised.

There is another good news from the team,  this mid-end summer 2011,  Wireless Connectivity Modules will launched
1.  Bluetooth Module
2.  Zigbee  Module
3.  RS232 / RS485 Module
4.  GSM  Module
5.  Internet  / Ethernet Module
6.  SPI Module  (2.4 GHz)
7.  900 MHz Module
8.  315 MHz Module
9,  etc,

I initialy open a thread for this to see who are those interested :    http://www.electronicslab.ph/forum/index.php?topic=26129.0

These module open up the NE2ss to communicate with other devices.    Check the above link to know more.   Salamat.

Hi Sirs,  see this link then for the  GSM Module, is it ok?   http://www.electronicslab.ph/forum/index.php?topic=26129.0

Errata on the schematics  :       http://www.1diycentre.com/NE2ss_Schematic_Diagram.pdf

UART Port :
P3.0   uart Rx   ------------>  To connect to   Tx   (of other MCU)
P3.1   uart Tx   --------------> To connect to   Rx    (of other MCU)

For the above connection with RF ID Module,   The RF_ID Module should be connected to P3.0 uart Rx
