Passive WiFi Repeater
« on: April 29, 2008, 09:52:52 PM »
can you suggest the simplest antenna design that would be useful as a passive repeater?

I was actually thinking of a PCB etched Yagi. ;D

A corner reflector will suffice.

mukha nga. I tried using a flat reflector and performance seem to improve. may 2 bar signal na.

I have this type of antenna.  Inside its just a pcb board with a huge square track and separated by a tin plate reflector which is slightly bigger than the pcb track.  It has a gain of 6db.   If I have time this evening, I'll dissaemble it and measure the dimensions for you.

thanks po.

similar diyan yung design sa office para sa Wireless Phone Antenna. pero circular reflector and element, separated by a small brass cylinder.

Although the above has only 6dB gain, its much easier to construct than a bi-quad antenna.  You just need a couple pf pcb boards spaced around 12.44 mm apart.  The metal reflector at the back is the size of the whole pcb at the front.

thanks. ;)

BTW, I am also considering a 3d corner reflector with director. hanggang 12dbi din pala gain nun.

Dati very low yung signal, ngayon very good na.

@alyas

Antenna ba yan? Sa antenna ba ng router nakakabit yan?

I make anything from something to nothing

If I make that parabolic antenna,  where will I connect it?  Line Of Sight naman.

kung gagawa ka ng parabolic reflector, ikakabit lang dun sa mismong rubber ducky (present antenna) nung router. just make sure na nasa focus nung ginawa mong parabola yung ducky.
