1diycetre.com's NE2ss Dev/Trainer Board
« on: December 21, 2010, 09:55:09 AM »
My NE2ss was delivered yesterday by air21  ;D.  I won it as a prize from 1diycentre.com's christmas raffle contest.

Now I have to customize this for my intended application.  Don't know where to start yet  .... I'm new to 8051 cores,  I'm thinking if I should learn BASIC again with BASCOM or go staright to C.  I found a C compiler uC/51 with a demo limit of 8kb, which is just exact for the AT89S52.  Some say its comparable with Keil C.

Now my first agenda is to replace all those stock white polarized headers on the board as I dont have any matching connectors to go with them.

Second is to determine if the 315MHz rf rx module's output can be changed or reprogramed to a latching type instead of momentary.

I'm putting learning Atmel 8051 cores on hold.  I'm pre-occupied with studying Atmel AVR cores right now particularly with the Atmega8515.  Fortunately, I think the Atmega8515 is pin to pin compatible with the AT89S52 used in the NE2ss dev board so I might just replace the At89S52 with the Atmega8515.

Ngayon ko lang nakita ito.....!

Fortunately,  I able to write some dox about  NE2ss with AVR MCU,  you may like to download it here, which cater mainly for Beginners   :      http://www.1diycentre.com/index_files/Page375.htm    and     http://www.electronicslab.ph/forum/index.php?topic=27652.0

On the dox,  page 11,  it shows how you convert the NE2ss  8051 reset into AVR reset ===> the very first thing you need to do so that AVR MCU  like the ATmega8515 or AT90S8515 can work.

The overhauled schematic is shown on page 7~10.

Note:
1.   You do not actually need the crystal for ATmega8515 - you can use internal RC
2.   You may need to add 100Kohms on the  I/O port PD5 and P4  for I2C SDA and SCL Stability.
