Does anyone in the forum use MD recorders at all? Did the advent of the MD ever took off in the Philippines. I know the MD walkman was "replaced" by the HD device but I still use it for recording purposes. I can post photos if anyone's interested.

Nakagamit ako minidisc, andito pa ata yung optical cable na gamit for recording.

Expensive ang cartridge/disc nya, same lang naman ang capacity halos sa isang cd.

So the MD did catch on sa Pinas? Didn't last long tho, did it? They also brought out some HiMD models (1Gb storage capacity). When the iPod and HD walkman arrived at the scene the MD and HiMD took a back seat. I guess I'm one of the few left who still uses it.

Adaptive Transform Acoustic Coding used by MD got some bad response from audiophiles. hindi nila gusto ang compression ng MD coz masyadong maraming nawawalang data.

Indeed ATRAC got blasted but tracks recorded using SP mode hardly has any loss in quality. Even LP2 is decent enough if the source is an audio CD. LP4 is rubbish. Anyway here is a photo of a couple that I still have and use on occasion.

The HiMD models pictured above does that. You can store anything in the disc (not that you'd want to).
