Sir Tony : Thanks sa points. points for you for your patience

Sir Efren : I'll be joining you guys soon. I still haven't assembled TonyT's kit. I'm saving it as something to do for Easter. Busy pa and just gathering up the other parts pa, like chassis, tubes, tube socket (something tube-rolling-friendly) and other aesthetics.

We use negative feedback in audio amplifiers to stabilize the gain, increase the bandwidth, lower the output impedance and lower the non-linear distortion.

this is more of a personal preference, but i observed that almost all tube amp users find tone controls unnecessary, that includes me   ;)

Agree. After finishing Tony's kit, I found my setup sounded better with the equalizer disabled. I do have to mention that my integrated amp is "digital" The equalizer, source selector and volume control are all push-button operated, no dials on the amp.

I also found that the sound is affected by the choice of tubes. 6bc8's opened up the highs but less on bass. 6bq7's had good bass and mids. It was fun listening to how the cymbals, high hats and tambourines sounded with the different tubes.

It sounded better because they sounded more natural, w/o passing those digital processes & a handful of op-amps, i avoided them in my signal paths as much as possible, different tubes have they're own "sonic signature" its just a matter of choosing the one that suit your taste... now you're into "tube rolling" congrats & +1 for you ;)

i'm trying to build tube tone control with baxandall filter using submini tube 6N16B to see if it will enhance more my tube amp. i'm happy listening to the amp with out tone concrol but i want to minimize the midrange area. minsan kasi me mga music na puro midrange na nakakarindi sa tainga....lalo a yung mga MP3 na di maganda pagka convert....kaya mostly gamit ko audio cd lang.
Pag gusto maraming paraan, pag ayaw maraming dahilan!!!!...

that's the reason why i am not a fan of MP3 when it comes to hi-fi, but i'm planning to use them in my 20 years old gas guzzler ;D

Purist! ;D

is that so? i never knew that myself ;D rather more of a "naturalist" maybe, hehehe ::)

AFAIK, UK is still producing vinyl and they are the only country that did not embrace CD! ;)

Blast from the past talaga.
