Global Warming, what do you do to prevent it?

Ok, medyo na papansin na natin na sobra na init ngayon.  As electronics engineers we can design ultra low power systems that can be run with batteries for years on end.

What I want to find out is what most of you do to give your share in saving our planet.

I for example have done the following:

1. Roof insulation and hot air venting.  This lowers my house temperature during summer and don't need to turn on my airconditioner in the afternoon.
2. Whole house fan, draws in cool outside air during the night, again don't need to turn on air conditioner.
3. Replaced all bulbs with CFL
4. Ball bearing fans for efficiency
5. Use the car only twice a week, commute by bus for the rest of the week, cheaper, and forces me to walk (healthy)
6. Put IR sensors for areas like the porch, toilet and stairs so that lights will not be left ON and will be ON only needed.
7. Replaced my old CRT monitor with less power hungry LCD one.
8. Keep my house cool by planting small trees and put some shades where the sun would hit my windows.
9. Use steel framing and concrete based wall cladding.

Future plans:

1. Solar powered porch light and other small spaces.
2. Solar water heater

Another thing to get real zero pollution, how about employing Hydrogen Fuel cells for the car?

Ok ba yang mga super bright LEDs na yan? Is it comparable sa mga CFL?

okay din naman, gamit ko 18 na white superbright led from alexan di sya pwedeng pagtabitabihin lalong lumalabo kaya ang ginawa ko tig 3 led na nasa isang strip board tapos may 140 ohms na resistor bawat strip at yung connectado sa charger ng nokia

based sa mga nababasa ko mas mataas pa rin ang efficacy ng Flourescent Bulbs. although suggested rin nila yung LED for walkway lighting where you only need a few watts of lighting.

maybe mixed lighting would be better. LEDs for a more localized illumination and CFLs for area lighting, until such time na makagawa ng efficient way to drive fluorescent lamps with at least 12vdc.

Oo nga pala we also segregrate our garbage. And avoid kamote at patatas hehe

ganyan ginagawa ko. kapag naman hindi kailangan isindi ang ilaw, yung LED flashlight na lang ginagamit ko. then LED desk lamp for reading.

idadagdag ko pala, bumili na ako ng laptop. CRT kasi ang monitor ko and my PC readily uses 80W to 150W whereas yung laptop consumes only 25W. ngayon sa gaming ko na lang ginagamit yung PC ko and other applications.

plan ko rin sana i-convert yung lumang bike ko to a charging station. para nag-lose na ako ng calories pwede ko pa charge laptop at cellphone ko.

you can put a good reflector sa mga led nyo.
doon mismo nyo idikit sa case. so it will bounce good.
so kahit na konti ang led's nyo mas mas malaki naman
ang sakop or mas wide ang coverage

yung simpleng pagbubulsa ng candy wrapper instead of itapon po sa daan... pero kahit ibulsa ko yun hindi naman dun natatapos yun... still itatapon ko pa rin yun kaso ang masakit dun pagtapon ko dito sa trash bin sa bahay sinusunog din nila ung basura kaya parang wala rin. :|

btw kung may e-waste tayo sa bahay bahay natin lalo na kung mobile phones, tapos magagamit pa naman i think mas ok kung donate or lagay natin dun sa parang recycling box na sponsored by ericsson and nokia sa mga mall. or kung may sentimental value yung mga gadget natin na yun lagay lang natin sa maayos na storage box.

kasi sa'min ng adviser namin sa organization namin ang E-Waste ang isa sa mga pinakamalakas magcontribute sa global warming.
