@ Tukkar- try also to reduce input coupling cap, that was way too big for a tube amp imho, start with a .02, also change .33 coupling to the output tube with a .05, this might help :)

0.33 with 300k form a high pass filter..changing the value may shift the tone...Experiment it anyway..

yes that was in the original design...highs and mids are very good anyway.especially the mids..when listening to vocals it seems that there's an echo....very different from the SS amp....only the bass....

any value that you can reccomend any caps value for the input and then to the output tubes?

Any additional background? why we are talking crap bass..di ba if you have direct source sa amp input, you have to hear flat response? baka naman ok yung amp..are you using preamp?

how many tubes of this kind do you have? try the others, might be microphonic tubes...

just a hunch, you might have perceived the wide sound stage as an echo, this phenomenon is an effect of the so called psycho acoustic which class A single ended designs are well known of, but yours is a push-pull...but echo & soundstage are worlds apart :-\

about the bass issue, i never really expect the speed, punch & power of an SS amp to a tube amp, that is why i always have a sub on standby, driven by SS amp of course when i really get hyped up sometime :)

ive tried having direct connection from dvd player to amp but still no good, use my aikido preamp...same....use SS preamp with tone control still same bass effect....so i think it's on the amp itself...

I've tried 3 different speaker set...a 8 inch full range, 12' speaker-2 way and  a 3 way...on the 12' baffle it sound  good with tight bass but on boomy bass still not good...on full range ...good on mids and highs...

OTOH, i really plan to use this as part of my tri-amp system...for midrange or tweeters....and the upcoming GU-50 amp for bass...
However i still want it to be a complete amp...it's really a challenge for me as a newbie on tubes amps....with your help of course....thanks gentlemen>>>>>
I will tweak till we do it....next is on caps...and verify curves for proper biasing...

Try Impedance matching..Your SS is Low and you amp is High Z.

500k is too high, try 100k to 250k...If it doesnt work, try to connect chassis grounding between preamp and amp.

tama ba yung orientation ng mga traffo sir tony? iniiwasan ko ang electromagnetic field ng power traffo sa mga plate chokes, nearest distance is 3.25 inches edge of core to core, will also provide a copper shield/cover on the power traffo made of double clad pcb.

will post schematic later... ;)
