Palagay ko sira
Magkaiba ba ang ckt ng standby sa main sir? o pareho lang sila ng start-up resistor?
I'm talking about the resistor in the range of 1Meg.

we are talking atx psu's, tv's and monitors uses start-up resistor which is not involved here....

mapapansin mo pati yung plastic spacer ng turnilyo ng mga rectifier minsan lusaw ng konti at nangingitim ang metal tab ng rectifier.

yup yung lower heatsink sa  picture, you have to take it out of board to test, you may also test the small diodes for the negative 12 and 5 rails if installed....

meron ding cases na walang signs of burning pero shorted pa rin, best to take the heatsink off board and test individual rectifiers.....kasi in circuit you might think that it is shorted, hindi naman pala..

madalas ntc resistor ang culprit - tama si sis tony, sometimes nag change value yung over voltage/current resistor shunt, also check very well all switching diodes, a little leak will make the circuit go on protection mode..if this unit is equiped with 393 i.c. palitan mo na rin..

ah forgot the name of that part. ginagamit yan to protect the unit. once tumaas voltage mag turn.on yan causing short circuit at puputok yung fuse. meron siyang certain voltage rating kung saan magconduct. kadalasan ko yan nakita sa samsung boards at mga unit na palagi nakastandby. pwede naman tanggalin muna pero make sure stable supply mo.
