Diy Class H Power Amp Help
« on: September 20, 2011, 07:43:40 AM »
Hello to all Wizard,Sorry if in the wrong place of posting this i just need some help of all the expert here..

This amp is known as Vertex by apexaudio  posted on other forum it was base on C**st A.Ca18/9001 model

Pinagsikapan ko magawan ng pcb ang amp na to and nagawa ko din para ma test as Class ab amp
But Sadly it fails..
Problems of the Amp i made
1.4mje's 15034/15035 heats up even there's no load or signal on amp
2.offset is ok audio is clear but less power like 5 to 10watts only Malakas pa si AVEGON
3.I also try to use the set up of C**st and parts value result is the same

I hope Pinoy expert can help Me to make this work

I made several amp Class H without failure H900x6(apex),Master 3k6(John Malluto) ,M10/K10 clone Ir2117stepper (Chestap)

this is just another class AB without the rail switcher....

the MJ15033/15034 are driver transistors......with 100ohms at its emmiter collector current should be about 6mA if the voltage drop there is 0.6volts.....

if the voltage is higher, it means more current and more heating.....

I will check the rails and find out voltage....i will check output offset voltage to make sure it is lower than +/-100mV....

I will check the voltage drop across emmiter resistors of output trannies to find out bias current....

between the bases of the 2 driver trannies, voltage is about 2.4 volts or thereabouts, if this is high, then this may cause driver transistor heating...

Kuya  Tony could this be possible of the problem the original driver used is Mje13007/5851
SILICON NPN/PNP SWITCHING TRANSISTOR
APPLICATIONS
 SWITCHING REGULATORS
 MOTOR C
and the clone vertex is using
MJE15034/35
Complementary Silicon
Plastic Power Transistors
TO−220, NPN & PNP Devices
designed for use as high−frequency drivers in audio amplifiers

drivers used has different characteristics

what are your rails?

the triple darlington output stage has the first trannie, the pre-driver on the highest rail so that the Vceo rating should at least equal twice the rail or sum of the rails....

i use the mj13007 in atx psu's it has a high Vceo rating of about 400volts compared to your predriver....
http://www.datasheetcatalog.org/datasheet/on_semiconductor/MJE13007-D.PDF
http://www.classiccmp.org/rtellason/transdata/mje15034.pdf

notice also that the circuit looks much like a leach amp, only that the VAS is isolated from the input LTP using emitter followers....

you can make it work with just one rail first and then when everything is ok, you can connect the rail switcher....

notice the 10 ohm resistor going to the collector of the predriver, measure the voltage drop there and you will know the standby dissipation of the pre-driver....
