no, the floods were caused by deforestation, there is always rain but never enough trees. the areas were never flooded before until now even though there was plenty of rains before

amen to this. :)

ah, an alarmist message from so called "environmentalists".

here is more proof about the fallacy of "global warming" and 'rising temperatures for the past 200 years"

Baguio chills at low 11.4 degrees Celsius
December 27, 2011, 6:55pm

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines (PNA) — The prevailing lowest temperature in this mountain resort 250 kilometers north of Manila further dipped to 11.4 degrees Celsius (OC ) early Tuesday morning from 12 OC on Monday morning.

Local weather forecaster Wilson Locando of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said cooler mornings are still ahead next month and in February.

The coldest temperature here was recorded on January 18, 1961 at 6.3 OC; followed by the 6.7 OC on Feb. 28, 1963; and then 6.8 OC on Jan. 8, 1986. Locando said the cool weather is due to the northeasterly or Siberian winds.

strong winds contribute to temperature drop specially during typhoons.

Snow buries Cordova, Valdez ; Nome is cold

Latest storm dumps 42 inches on Valdez; in Nome, it's bitter cold

Records are being broken or challenged by blizzards in Prince William Sound and cold temperatures in Nome.

VALDEZ

As of 2 p.m. Friday, the National Weather Service office reported a season total of 272.1 inches of snow. An accumulation of 19.2 inches was recorded for Thursday.

The record snowfall for Valdez, 560.7 inches, was recorded in the winter of 1989-1990. The current snowfall is on track to eclipse that.

NOME

Yet more extreme weather is hitting Nome where, for the first time in 13 years, the temperature hit 40 below zero just after 10 a.m. on Thursday morning. The last time it was this cold in Nome was Feb. 1, 1999. The last time a minus 40 reading was taken on Jan. 5 was in 1917.

Temperatures remained "firmly in the 30s below zero" on Friday, according to the weather service, making it the 10th consecutive day with temperatures below minus 30. Temperatures of minus 38 on Jan. 3 and minus 38 on Jan. 4 broke the previous low temperature records for those days.

This is the longest severe cold wave since a record-breaking 16-day stretch from Jan. 15 to 30, 1989. That epic spell saw two days tie Nome's all-time record low, 54 degrees below zero.

Nome has not seen temperatures above zero since Dec. 23, 2011.

not exactly the yahoo article I was looking for but close enough. melting ice caused by "global warming" are opening up ancient areas of civilization to archeologists. people often forget that there was a "warm" period of time when people lived there. then an ice age came and froze up the area. and now its warming up again.

Cycles of warmth then cycles of cold; not "global temperatures increasing for the past 200 years b.s."

Ancient Artifacts Revealed as Northern Ice Patches Melt

ScienceDaily (Apr. 26, 2010) — High in the Mackenzie Mountains, scientists are finding a treasure trove of ancient hunting tools being revealed as warming temperatures melt patches of ice that have been in place for thousands of years.
Tom Andrews, an archaeologist with the Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre in Yellowknife and lead researcher on the International Polar Year Ice Patch Study, is amazed at the implements being discovered by researchers.

"We're just like children opening Christmas presents. I kind of pinch myself," says Andrews.

Ice patches are accumulations of annual snow that, until recently, remained frozen all year. For millennia, caribou seeking relief from summer heat and insects have made their way to ice patches where they bed down until cooler temperatures prevail. Hunters noticed caribou were, in effect, marooned on these ice islands and took advantage.

more bad news to "global warmers"

http://news.blogs.cnn.com/2012/01/09/alaska-town-digging-its-way-out-after-record-18-feet-of-snow/?hpt=hp_c2

Cordova, an isolated coastal town of about 2,000 people about 150 miles east of Anchorage, appears to be one of the hardest-hit locales, with the state National Guard reporting that it was sending Guardsmen and resources Monday after weeks of record snowfall left the city  buried under 18 feet of the white stuff.

- Cold Bay had 3.1 inches of snow on Wednesday alone.

– Galena had a record low of -54 on Saturday, beating the 1997 record of -52.

– The temperature in St. Paul reached a record 0 on Saturday.

– Record precipitation was recorded Sunday at the Haines and Juneau airports.

– Bethel had a low of -32 on Sunday, tying a record set in 1952, 1963 and 1975.

– Fairbanks reported Monday that it had experienced snow every day for 22 consecutive days.

– And Valdez saw 15.2 inches of snow Sunday, shattering the 2001 record of 10.5 inches.

– The Anchorage Daily News reports that the city's average snowfall each winter is 74.5 inches. As of Friday, it had already seen 70 inches.

...............Forecasters have confirmed that this area of high pressure has come from Siberia.

"These kind of weather conditions occur every 20 to 30 years, last time in 1986 and 1956," Jurik Muller of the German Meteorological Service said.
