Connecting e-Gizmo Power Analyzer Kit to Z8F6421 IRC Slimboard
« on: February 24, 2012, 02:52:43 PM »
From the e-Gizmo Power Analyzer Manual:

It says that in order for me to connect to the slimboard, I need to connect the slimboard's GND to the Power Analyzer's J1. However, I'm having problems figuring out what the other symbols mean. My IRC Slimboard has pins labeled UART R2IN, UART R2OUT, UART T2IN, and UART T2OUT. The Power Analyzer needs to be connected to the UART, but which pin should I put it on? Another is that RX label. What does that mean?

Also, after I connect the Power Analyzer Kit to the IRC Slimboard, will the Power Analyzer power the slimboard and I won't need to connect the slimboard to a power source?

Thanks in advance.

@cylindrical
don't be too visual about the illustrations. if you carefully read the datasheet supplied by e-gizmo. it's pretty simple

in serial uart the terms is simple as

RX means Recieve or IN
TX is Transmit or OUT

the value for the PULLUP resistor is 4.5k Kohm.

I am not electronics major and not very good with hardware (more on software side ako), hence, I rely heavily on the diagrams and charts included. Thanks for the help. I am slowly getting it.

How about my other question: after I connect the Power Analyzer Kit to the IRC Slimboard, will the Power Analyzer power the slimboard and I won't need to connect the slimboard to a power source?

and so i am. i just simply read...

hanapin mo sa zilog chip mo yung TXD0/RXD0  or  TXD1/RXD1

don't make hula - hula at this moment since you still know little about electronics. power both board instead.

One of my fav topics  ;D

Sundin mo lang yung Figure 3c (ot the power analyzer manual) even w/o the additional 4K7 risistor provided DTR pin is active.  Works for me like that w/o any problems.  You will need to provide separate power for your slimboard as the output of the analyzer is  optically isolated so there is no physical ground connecting the analyzer to the slimboard.

Meron na rin akong Z8duino  ...masusundan ko rin tong thread na to. ;D

Which is the DTR pin? Walang pin na labeled DTR dito sa slimboard ko. This is what my slimboard looks like, btw:
