MSI frequency counter
« on: March 20, 2012, 12:43:05 AM »

Medium scale integration :)

Dapat po hindi aabot ng Micro-controller Or PIC based yung IC namin and as much as possible walang CMOS, kaya po ba yun ?

more info please:

Analog ba or digital? Range?

Parang may nakita ako nyan using 555..

Encyclopedia of Electronics Circuit 6 yata..

WEIRD....

Exactly. That is why humingi ako ng clarification.

@TS,

Avoid using acronyms if possible para walang confusion.

MSI (medium scale integration) is a very old term. It is seldom used these days because even the simplest ICs, except TTL/CMOS 74xxx and 4xxxx devices, are almost all LSI (large scale integration) or higher. If you meant using these devices, sabihin mo na kaagad 74xxx TTL or 4xxx CMOS devices. Wala na yung pa MSI-MSI pa.

Walang ako schematic right now for a frequency counter but it is quite easy to cook up one out of decimal counters, octal latches and 7 segment display drivers.

decimal counter -> octal latches -> 7 segment display driver and some timing logic.

May schematic na po ako ng frequency counter and we're currently working on it..

ganito po sya.. may time base generator para sa isang input ng nand gate.. it composes of oscillators, frequency dividers, flip flops and controls for the reset and latch.. then dun po sa another input ng nand gate yung unknown frequency input signal :))

para sa lahat po yung tanong :)) thanks, any help would be highly appreciated :)

Ang reset signal manggagaling sa time base generator. The same reset signal can be used to clock the latch. I think you don't need to gate the unknown clock. Hayaan mo pumasok sa counters. May reset at latch naman. Kung walang latch, then you have to gate the input (unknown) clock. But you can't count and display at the same time because nakikita ang pagbilang ng counter.

You can use any octal d-type latch. 74ls273, 74ls374, etc.
