DIY induction cooker/heater
« on: March 23, 2012, 10:51:46 PM »
a casual talk with sir tony at his place inspired me to start this thread, frankly i have no idea how this thing works, I have three methods of cooking; LPG (daily), electric range (rarely) Charcoal(occasional),  sir tony gave me approx 10 min crash course on induction heater. :D

To begin with here's a useful link http://www.richieburnett.co.uk/indheat.html I hope that further sharing of ideas on the subject matter will be beneficial to all those interested to build this project. ;)

aside from cooking foods there are lots of uses, the limit is only in our imagination...

We must target the ff goals:
1. the most efficient for our required capacity
2. parts availability-can we use locally available parts/even those in our junkbin
3. inductor design- i know sir tony can help us out on this one :D

we need to know the basics first, pls feel free to post any links you might find useful.

mababa lang siguro wattage nya sir kaya mas masmatagal sa LPG

if standard induction VS LPG mas mabilis magluto sa induction!

Ito simple lang using common PWM IR2153 >>> http://danyk.wz.cz/induk3_en.html
Yung iba ginagawang high power smps yan kaso wala syang soft start feature.

Kung ang issue is "cooking" then mas maganda talaga to in terms of efficiency...pero maraming nagsasabi na mas masarap pa rin yung pagkaing lutong apoy? even those cooked using the traditional palayok...;D

Di kaya yung kahoy is adding some sort of flavoring?

Di ba may mga "smoked" foods like smoked salmon and smoked ham na talagang pina-uuskan ng specific burnt woods para magkaroon ng added flavor.

Walang tatalo sa wood and LPG in term of energy efficiency. Isipin mo lang na to produce electricity and send it over to your house, marami nang "system loss". However, compared to some types of cooking like electric range I think may advantage ang induction.

Let's talk about other uses than in the kitchen. Pwede gamitin ito pang heat treatment (hardening, etc) ng metals.
