ok.. mahirap pala pag ganyang klaseng eeprom.. what TYPE/s of eeprom pwede using discrete logics to control it?

OT:

I was thinking an eeprom(to store messages) then use 16F84(for decoding) and logic gates for row/column driving...

ito pwede pa.. mas madali kung gagamit ng microcontroller..

ang alam kung mga eeprom ay serial communication ang ginagamit, kaya mahihirapan talaga kung discrete logic circuits lang ang gagamitin..

yung mga parallel na EEPROM mahirap nang hanapin. mas abundant pa ang parallel FLASH.

eto na yung best source.

@rafft: yup yung FLASH same lang din. though normally they come in packages na parang TQFP pero 2 sides lang may pins (hindi ko alam kung ano tawag dun).

Yes. This is what I said on in old thread on this forum.
But this needs a smart pattern/character generator PC-based software to generate the messages to be stored in the EPROM.
This is a bit difficult for scanning and right addressing is to be considered.

I think it is even easier to program directly an MCU to drive the dot-matrix LEDs than making the pattern generator software.
Its only advantage is that no more MCU is running and just a proof-of-concept.
Cost-wise, an MCU-controlled display is *MUCH* cheaper to build.
