Is 8051 new chips and development dead?

Legacy don't die - they remain a legacy.   You have not used the FLIP80251 typhoon - the 8051 16-bit version or the Philips XA, why you are asking for new one?

Well, take a look at of M8051W and M8051EW  from Mentors and Graphics & IPextreme.  See more on this link :  http://embeddedsystemnews.com/ipextreme-and-mentor-graphics-offer-m8051-cores-for-commercial-licensing.html

Not enought?   Try the R8051XC2 IP core ...... http://embeddedsystemnews.com/cast-releases-r8051xc2-ip-core-new-member-of-8051-compatible-processor-family.html

Here's more  T8051 ISA compliant IP core..... http://edageek.com/2008/08/01/8051-microcontroller/

Oh!  may pera ka ba pambili ng licensing?  Siguro stick ka na lang sa AT89LP2052 at AT89LP4052 which is as fast as AVR, wala pa licensing.

FOR BEGINNER'S:

Still - the 8051 core is the easiest and widely use STARTER for Learning MCU programming and MCU applications.

If you are MCU zero background, I can offer to you a full package to Learn - the STARTER MCU-EB8051-"2" Trainer Kit.  A desiged by  a Filipino hobbyists.

For a Starter in MCU programming, you'll have the benefit since you will have the necessary hardware and software on your bench and right away you can start to study it.  You won't need extra software or hardware during your study period, but as soon as you get bored with the ON BOARD hardware, you will need extra that you can connect to the Target board :  LCD, buzzer, IR, etc..

The Full package comes with :

-Target Board  acts like a motherboard (with LEDs, push button, 7 segment,
  EEPROM, Buzzer, general I/O)
-  Programmer (AT89C1051, AT89C2051, AT89C4051, AT89C51/52/55,
AT89S51/52/8252/8253) ---> can work on USB power, RS232 communications
or USB to RS232 for those laptop without COM port
-  User's Manual (compiled book that will walk you to Learn MCU Programming)
- CD ROM with all the source code, schematics, video instruction, software driver.  It use Assembly Language IDE (demo version - registered and approved by IDE designer for share to be in-package in my Trainer Kit.   The IDE can be upgrade if you find it satisfy your programming carreer)

I am developing also 8051 core applications in the field of :

1.  Digital Audio Tone control with SGS Thomson Digitally Surround Processor
2.  Security Systems
3.  Telephony (Simple Central Office Simulator)

All these are intended to be SHARE and COURSEWARE and will be act as Trainer Kit which will help our fellows to develop their skills as Software Developer.

I am also looking a good samaritans to help me develop the AVR-Trainer Kit /  ARM-Trainer Kit.  The intention is to provide a EAFF (Easy, Affordable, Fast and Fun  to Learn MCU - just for Filipino).

maganda pala ito ...how much isa? you mean pwede rin ito sa 8052?

For the board,  8051 and 8052 can be used as long as they are conventional and 40 pins. Large Scale embedded controller need a specific Target board (motherboard).

sir, mayron kayong isp programmer para sa at89c2051/4051? pm me kung how much

Since our programmer is customized in Filipino Language, we wanted to modify it using the AT89S2051 and AT89S4051 but at that time,   ATMEL released the 1T 8051 (which is 1 clock/cycle, a 12 times faster than AT89C2051 called the AT89LP2052 and AT89LP4052, we are now concentrating on this (against busy time), unfortunately, still have several serious bugs.

If you don't need high speed,  the AT89C2051 & AT89C4051 can still use, then use the conventional programming - meaning, remove and program and re-placed.  (PS, may you check this link, in case you will need components, on sale pa rin ata sila   :  http://www.1diycentre.com/estoreMCU.htm)

Hello,  just an update..... it looks the 8051 core keep on kicking.

a)  IP Module - Core8051s  (from ACTEL)
Core8051s is an ASM51-compatible microcontroller core that can run programs written for the 8051. It contains the main 8051 core logic but no peripheral logic. Core8051s has an APB bus interface that can be used like the SFR bus to easily expand the functionality of the core by connecting it to existing APB IP peripherals. This allows users to configure the core with the peripheral functions (timers, UARTs, I/O ports, etc.) that they need for their application.

http://www.actel.com/products/ip/search/detail.aspx?id=648

2)  Actel Extends Core8051s Processor Support to RTAX, Axcelerator and IGLOO Families  (http://www.actel.com/company/press/2009/11/30/)

3) Hsinchu, Taiwan – Nov/18/2009 – Nuvoton Technology Corporation today releases the LPC(low pin count) 8051 MCU–SSOP20 N79E825/N79E824 after presenting series of LPC MCU. Nuvoton's new 8-bit MCU, the N79E825/N79E824 makes its debut to respond ......  http://www.nuvoton.com/hq/enu/NewsAndEvents/News/ProductAndTechnology/20091118.htm

Hehe, ang STARTER TRAINER Kit na lang ang walang improvement, and not kicking!!!   The good news is,  a new Development board will be out soon for Learning the Legacy 8051 Text base programming (Basic or C language,  huwag na Assembly - masyado madugo), na compatible sa lahat ng 8051 core MCU with same pins from different manufacturer-- specific for developing MMI (Man Machine Interface) and protocol for personal Home/Office security Systems.  (In case AVR lover ka, mukhang compatible din sa AVR na AT90S8515,  ATMega 161/162  - -  with respect to Pin compatibility).

Hello,  nice to hear ginamit mo pala ang HS AT89 Flash MCU Programmer noon (kilala ko ang University mo hehehhehe),  iyong bang Tagalog version o Ilcano version ang software?   http://s328.photobucket.com/player.swf?file=http://vid328.photobucket.com/albums/l336/myphotoloader/Programmer/HSAT89Flash8051MCUProgrammer.flv&fs=1&os=1&ap=1

Paki contact ang :
a)  odcenter@gmail.com,
b) visit http://www.1diycentre.com/mcu_files/Page1447.htm
c)  puwede din niyo ako PM

Thanks for the support for our very own designed Programmer, kahit na medyo naluluma na at kaya lang niya i-support and ATMEL 8051 product, I am proud of it.
