hindi kaya ang basis nito yung ginamit yung CD-ROM para sa answering system sa PBX. ;D

trans: was the original circuit based on the PBX that used the CD-ROM as answering system in a PBX? ;D

this is cool! i have to add this to my TODO list also.

does it only play audio CDs? hopefully someone adds an MP3 playing capability to the program. I believe this will require different programming and F877 may not be sufficient (I don't know!) I may have already read similar project like this. That was 7 years ago. unfortunately, it din't add to my TODO list since i don't have yet an idea of how to deal with MCUs...

is this an english zone? hehehe

foreigner kasi siya.

I believe there are already ASIC's made to decope MP3 files. can't remember it's exact name but it was used on an AVR Butterfly project to play MP3 files.

oh.. i see.

nwei, what was in my mind is to review the decoding routines for mp3s and apply it to MCUs. by this, we can further understand MP3s or other related audio compressions. i don't know if it worth to review MP3s. heheeh

most of the self coded MP3 decoding MCU's were using ARM. based on them, it requires lots of processing power and memory (RAM usage were in the kB range).

perhaps dsPIC's can also handle them.

well at least what i believed was correct . F877 can't handle MP3decoding. hehehe
OT!!!

but this is a very nice project...

since CD-ROM and Compact Flash share a common interface, perhaps this can also be done for Compact Flash drives. then a portable version could be made.

the trouble of utilizing flash memory is that you may have to convert it to wav files first but i think this is very much doable. it will also provides a convenience to user since most of us does not prefer CD as media over flash memories.
This would be a very nice innovation.

of course the popular flash drive would be used in this case in which we will be opt to use a usb interface. hehehe
and eventually this will look like an audio player in the market that have a usb interface for MP3s. heheheh (i first saw this on a sony component)

Yes this one only can play Audio CDs

If u r trying to make PIC MP3 Player. Use MP3 Decoding Chips.
