battery charger using relay

tulong lang po, sino po ang nakakaalam kung paano gawin ang battery charger gamit ang isang relay?

gamit ka na lang ng semiconductor device para sa charger mo instead of relay.

ay ang galing! bakit di ko yan naisip.... kasi bibili pa sana ako ng current meter na 10A. mahal! gagamitin ko lang naman para madetect kung almost zero na yung current! hehehe

Masusunog po siguro ang winding ng relay unless maliit lang ang charging current .

syempre, semiconductor is better than a magnetic relay, pero for the sake that it should work, ok na din yung relay. at syempre, gagamit tayo ng mas mataas na rating para di masunog.

btw, iv known this teacher in electronics, he ask students to use relay as the tripping breaker during short in power supply. and all the time, naka "on" yung relay, di naman nasususunog. so, sa tingin ko,  basta tama yung rating na ginagamit mo, di naman yan masususnog.

Siguro gagamitin nya yung relay to cut off the charging current once the battery is already fully charged para di maovercharge yung batt.

I would suggest you use a thyristor like an SCR. Ang concept kasi nito ay ang holding current which turns on the thyristor kapag natrigger, pero once the current falls below the holding current it will turn off. Kapag ang battery ay magfu-full charge na yung current will lower down until it goes below the threshold then hihinto na yung charging. If you use a transistor para magfeed back dun sa trigger mag-kakaroon ng trickle charging automatic na din ang trigger.

yung mga lumang kotse, circa 50's to 60's, relays ang laman ng voltage regulator nila for charging the battery ... one coil limits the voltage, another coil limits the current ... the "alternator" is actually a DC generator

OT: if I remember correctly yan ang origin ng Switchmode Power Supply...diyan din nagsimula ang Resonant Converters (ZVS - Zero Voltage Switching or Zero Current Switching), napansin kasi nila na ang lakas mag-spark nung relay and mahal ang physical solutions...
