Wayback in 1998 naka-experience ako ng PC power supply na ganyan. Check mo yung starting resistor.

hoping you are waiting for me

Where my rush of thoughts
in oblivion drowns

pwede rin na cold solder sa parts.

I just remeber one time when I "dissected" these "generic" power supplies (PC)... dinikit lang ng GLUE STICK ang wires at nilagyan ng tape!  >:(

this is an already old thread pero contribute lang ako...

if the PSU is atx type, check the electrolytic filter capacitors of the standby supply.  They might appear as bloated or leaking already.

Since this capacitors are always exposed to high frequency even when your PC is "turned-off" but with the AC cable still connected on the AC outlet, their electrolytes tend to dry up rather quickly (especially if they are not certified for switching circuits).  When they dried up so much, the "Power Good" signal from the psu may become unstable resulting to the powering down of the PC.

hth.
your question appears to be an XY Problem.

why don't you just tell us exactly what you're trying to do?

before you check the component of power supply try mo mona icheck mga software mo sa pc. nangyari narin sakin yan sira lang pala os ng pc possible rin na umiinit ng husto cpu, linisin mo muna memory yan madalas magkaroon ng dumi lalo na pin nya. kaya minsa lagi nagrerestart at shutdown pati yung v-card if hindi ka nakabuilt-in. openyon lang. kapag ok yun check muna hardware  ;)

Assuming PSU is giving the right voltage/s....

> better check the heatsink of the main CPU, once it is not properly attached, CPU will surely fail then automatically shuts to minimize further damage to the system

> memory issues is out of the question, for the system is already booted up, it just so happens that it shuts off by itself...

> if the video card is the culprit, surely it won't give up display literally.
