^ it is a voltage regulator IC

7812 yung generic name that can supply a +12V and 1 A max current typical, though some other 7812 IC versions can provide 1.5A

meron din 78L12 which can only provide 100mA

@ striker_24,another option is to use transistor and zener diode.

parts list:
T1-transformer 220vac/7.5vx2(c.t.)@ 1A
D1-4 or bridge type diode 2a/50v rectifier
C1-2,200uf/25v or 4,700uf/25v electrolytic cap./filter(input)
C2-470uf/16v electrolytic cap./zd1 filter
C3-1000uf/16v filter out cap.electrolytic
R1-390 ohms/.5w carbon
Zd1-12v/.5w zener diode
Q1-C1060 regulator x'tor w/ heatsink

thanks @ sana makatulong......
