Think of it as a hardware(parang logic gates), na ang pins eh configurable as output or input. May sariling timer sa loob, and some has its own ADC.

all configuration, action to read the inputs, and response of outputs to inputs eh maari mo macontrol using commands na ipinapasok mo sa code ng kanyang software.

unlike an asic or a standard IC, and microcontroller ay highly configurable depende sa gusto mo application.
