Kindly refer to your relevant old threads. Thank you.

EDIT: Yes. you can use a servo.. High Torque servo.

Normal servo motors could only turn 180 degrees.

But you could modify it to become like a DC motor with PWM speed control.
See here http://www.seattlerobotics.org/guide/servohack.html

This hack is very common to replace motors because they are geared thus having a high torque.

Depends on how large is your billboard.
With miniature models, you could use modified servo motors.

The next strong motor I could think and widely available is car wiper motors.
For industrial grade, either a 3phase AC motor or large DC motors like the one used for conveyors.

Arkiose99:

I have the solutions to your problem but I might be too late. Remote can mean wired remote or wireless remote.  Just use DC motors.  For wired, use telephone wires. For wireless us and RC radio system.  you see, the DC motor can turn CW or CCW depending on polarities.  Use a DC motor, geared. No need to hack a servo.  you have to disable the pot anyway if you want long travel. Put a drum to roll in a cable. Then put "end switches" so you do not exceed opening and closing the canvass billboard I assume.  if you are talking actual huge billboards, use AC motors but you have to gear it for torque.  Tell me what size billboard are you talking about.  I only need to drop two wires to control a dc motor to run CW or CCW. To give you and idea, use a double pole, double throw sw with a center off. one side runs it CW, the other side CCW.  you just cross the connections on the two outside terminal where you have your battery connected.  The motor is connected to the middle pair on the sw. The end sw opens when you reach the end point. The line is in series to this sw. however you have a diode accross the terminals of the end sw. hen you reverse poles, the diode bypasses the sw and will run the motor the other way.
