is there a sound when no one hears it?  wala lang!!!

yan kasi tanong ng prof namin sa samin sa first day ng acoustic class namin.

tignan ko lang kung pareho sagot nyo sa kanya. hehe :)

NONE.. para magkaroon ng sound there are 3 requirements..

1. vibrating body ( 20 to 20,000 times per second )
2. medium
3. receiver

kapag nandito tayo sa earth hindi natin maririnig ang sumasabog na kometa or nagbanggan na asteriod kasi there is no medium ( no air in space ) ..

a tree that falls in a forest na walang tao.. wala ding sound kasi walang receiver eventhough there is air in the forest (medium) and vibrating body (tree)

nhihirapan nako mag-interpret ng "no on hears it" based sa nabasa ko above and based sa opinion ko, kasi pwde din eto, "may receiver nga pero d lang marinig (hindi sa bingi ha),due to some factors like yung frequency or power ng supposedly "sound" " .. ewan lang din kung may sound na di natin marinig,,, ay ayun! ultrasound! infrasound (tama ba to)! dba sound din yan sila? "no one hears it" din to.  :)

sound is anything that is audible or within the range of hearing so if no one hears it there is NO sound.

if the frequency/oscillation being produce is beyond our hearing range, we cannot consider it as sound.

Our ear can hear audible sounds between 20Hz to 20Khz range of frequencies.. below or beyond that range, we won't be able to hear them not until you use special equipments..

SOUND LEVEL:
it is possible that the frequency or oscillation being produced is within the spectrum of our hearing, pero kung masyado naman itong mahina ay di mo rin ito maririnig. so we also have to consider the minimum threshold level of hearing....in this case pwede may sound pero di mo lang marinig.
