Why not use hydro current source? opposite of wind power source. The idea is by using giant fans under the water with a strong current of course. How? water current rotates the fan blades to generate electricity.

feasible talaga ang tidal power...

sana walang basura ang Pasig river...malinis yan nung kapanahonan nina Ibarra, Ma. Clara, Padre Salve at Padre Damaso.

I've seen a couple of designs harnessing the power of hydro current and the tide ebbs (actually yung malakas na alon pala, but tide rising and ebbing can also be a source of power too). I have some designs in mind. try ko i-drawing sa 3D

in this information age...simply participating this forum will make your ideas work...just hang around and have fun. you don't have to go back to school and learn from textbook academicians...your basics in mechanics, strength of materials and hydraulics are good enough to understand the formulas related to ram pump and impellers used in tidal power systems.

o diba.. that's an idea..

TAMA!  Tama.......................................
maganda iniisip mo jamz hehehe....

There is one technology slowly but steadily building up. This technology is planted on QUANTUM ELECTRONICS and test results are very very promising. Ang pinakamaganda dito, PINOY ang inventor.

No physics law is violated. only raw pinoy intelligence applied. Electronics engineers ought to see this for themselves. CRABS ARE NOT ALLOWED. I have a friend who made something like this, pero I can't really tell kung similar ang tecnological basis nila. My guess is similar nga.

Hi sisters. magandang idea yun sa marikina Pasig River ni Lito. A recent concept is to harness the force of the water current with turbines. This can be DIY. Install turbine blades sa loob ng 55 gallon drum(yung blue plastic drum). Inalis and top and bottom. May alterntor sa loob. Tight water sealing is important. The drum is dropped into the river and is held back with ropes. The drum sways by itself like a weather vane to find the highest flow. Wires to the top with the rope to harvest the current.

A mini model can be made using a motorcycle alternator which can produce 50 watts at 12 volts. Seal it inside a canister and use a washing machine hub to exit its shaft engaged to turbine blades. The smaller blue drums can be used.

Another ingenious way is to have a floater tethered to a bridge or bank. It has a waterwheel on both sides. In the middle is an alternator. Better to go 12V DC so batteries can be charged.

Imagined tethered floats looking like turtle backs floating all over.hahaha better many small ones than to have a large one. Thievery will be a problem in this country tho.

But wind turbine is the way to go in our country. Build small ones that can be lifted up a pole.Charge your cellphone this way!

Find a stepper motor. the higher the V the better. It has internal magnets. Put a voltmeter and twist the shaft, may AC dyan. Parallel multi poles stepper motor. Use vertical turbines now popular in urban areas.

Or, buy a radiator fan. A new one at Rotary aircon supply used to cost P800. Mount it on a pole with a vane. test the V u can gt in your area. U may elongate the blades if you wish.Put many small fans on your third floor roofdeck and do not build one big one.

I am building the "savonius" turbine right now. 55 ga drum(plastic) split ion halves. One long shaft on bearings. Two round 10" plates welded top and bottom at the height of the drum.Drum halves bolted on the round plates facing opposite direction. Careful now , cuz it can knock you off where there is a strong wind. Put it inside a triangular cage. put a pulley or bike chain gear on the shaft(top or bottom) to exit the rotating force. experiment with alternators. Car alternator is a poor choice cuz it has no magnets. We can DIY, marami sa web for data. Motrcycle alts are widely available. Just parallel them. u can surrond your turbine with many alternators. Just put a many pulleys stacked. Imagine your top shaft protruding the top of the cage. Stack say 4 pulleys to run 4 alternators(each at 12 o'clock,6, 3 and 9 o'clock).

Turbine blades should be triangular in construction, so that wherever the current comes from, the rotation would still go in the same direction. I saw this in Discovery Channel, although what they did there is they created a long cylinder by welding several steel drums together, put the cylinder into the water VERTICALLY, so that when the wave comes in, water level in the cylinder rises thereby displacing air which goes out through the turbine, and when the wave recedes, air is again sucked into the cylinder through the turbine. In both instances the rotor rotates in the same direction. So, two versions are available: one is put HORIZONTALLY parallel to the current to harness energy from water current, and one is put VERTICALLY to harness energy from the waves.

One problem with this is if steel drums are to be used, it would eventually corrode unless maintenance is faithfully observed.
