No not always .. It can be.
My development board is connected to parallel port.
but you can used RS232 for debugging. RS232 is a serial thats all. you can used it for what you want./

use proteus, you can download from the internet the "free" versions  ;D ;D

proteus is a circuit capture/simulator that supports real-time simulation of several microcontroller brands including PICmicros.

You can learn PIC programming rapidly without buying any devt boards. All you need is a PC with the installed proteus  :D

Sir paranz,

You are right bossing..mas ok nga na gumamit ng proteus!! Sa wakas naka-download na ako ng "free" version and i'm now enjoying it's use (Proteus 7.2 sp2).

Thanks for the input!! (Nahinto tuloy yung DIY zilog development board ko at nakatambay yung binili kong Z8F64200100KITG)

Any good suggestion what programmer interface ang magandang gamitin kasi mga ilang araw, ill try to do real world testing using breadboard. Preferably using in circuit programmer for pic, yung parang sa zilog na xtool. thanks......

One more thing sir bossing paranz, i just recently downloaded multisim version 10 (yung "free"  ;D), bakit di sya installer? Almost 1gb pa naman size ng ma-extract ko dalawa lang file ang laman (multisim10.mdf at multisim10.mds) Paano install to?? Do i need a previous version of multisim then upgrade it using this files? Thanks for the reply.... :'(

d best talaga proteus  ;D

Maganda rin ang Zilog, architecture wise, lamang ang zilog sa PIC by a dozen mile  ;D. Kaya if you have time, gawin mo pa rin ang DIY

I think its a CD image. You extract the file using the appropriate softwares, maybe PowerISO.

Puede rin ba ang Proteus a MCS-51? Bka naman puedeng mahingi yng working links nyo dyan. Sa MCS-51 kc n gamit ko (AT89S52) , wlang bootloader so palipat lipat ka ng chip from progrmamer to the app board and vice versa. Thanks in advance sa inyong help. ;)

Puede rin ba ang Proteus a MCS-51?
dati may DS89C420 (8051-based microcontroller ng Dallas/Maxim),
and yung ginawa kong code simulate ko sa Proteus using yung 80C51 model..
nag-work naman sya and same result sa actual..  ;)

ito yung screen shot ng proteus 7.2:

wala akong makitang exact model ng AT89S52,
pero may AT89C52.. baka ito rin yun..  ::)

may ibang features lang yung AT89S52...for phase out na yung AT89C51, AT89C52, AT89C2051, at AT89C4051...

yun yung unang pupuntahan...

wala pa akong nakitang gawa na bootloader for AT89S52...

Walang instruction to write on its own flash ang 89S52...di puede ang bootloader
