Ano ba ang significance ng esr at bakit din kailangan ma-measure ito? Madalas ko makita sa mga m/b eh sinasabi nila mga caps nila eg mga japanese low esr caps ang gamit sa m/b.

lower ESR ELECTRO caps ang filter ng mga spikes.. sort of ZENERS for spikes..and a tight-tolerance/CLAMP also....

sample, if may PIC micro project ka and your driving a motor na nasa same 5V rail, tapos WALANG electro cap NEAR sa motor drive mo(ussualy mosfet or transistor), erratic ang operation nun, else you could RESET the MCU or KILL it... so dapat may electro AS FILTER...

isa na rin ito sa mga DIY projects na may mga motors, kapang failing na ang mga electro caps, erratic na din operation nun..

just an example with regards to ESR and electro caps..

sa mga SPMS, 'pag gumamit ng mga ouput caps na may mababang ESR, expected is mababa rin ang output ripple voltage..
like sa supply (voltage regulation module) ng mga microprocessors, tight dapat ang regulation nila (for example, 1.5V, 1% ripple)..

malaki kasi ang ripple current sa mga output capacitors,
kaya kung malaki pa yung ESR, makakaroon pa ng additional voltge (series) sa capacitor voltage.
Vc -> Vc + Ic*ESR

sa tingin ko walang protection yung input side nya... pag nag-test ng cap/s na may voltahe pa, sureball patay yung input side..

I still preffer MY analog ESR kasi may DIODE protection

If I where to do it, eh ANALOG front-end ang gagamitin ko, then a PIC naman for a digital readout

di ko nga lang sure ang "math" kong gagawin kasi im sure hindi linear ang output nito... and besides, I have no spare 16F877 and 3310 LCD to play with
