Hi Nicee,

Locating - minsan lang, Tracking - continouos update of the location, sinusundan.
I have no experience with the network service for locating or tracking by using the cell site to know which particular AREA the phone is connected. What I built was a GPS tracker with a GSP module from parallax connected a GSM modem. Kaya kapag nagtext ka ng "Wer na U?", magrereply xa ng "Her na me" with the latitute and longitute of the location. By plotting the coordinates in an electronic map (nasa PC), malalaman kung saan ang exact location, witin 10 meters accuracy.

Kaya kapag naka track si Misis kay Mister, at sabi ni Mister na nasa Cubao daw xa, alam ni Misis kung nasa Ali Mall o di kaya nasa Ali bangbang. Marami ding mga matronang nagrerequest kung may injectable version nito.

Anyway, I hope this spells the difference between locator and tracker.

madedetect ang isang Mobile station (cellphone) kung saan siyang malapit na BTX hindi mismo yung exact location nito.

GPS module gamit ko, kaya within 10m ng Lat/Long ng location nya ang binabasa ko, hindi naka triangulate sa malapit na BTX.

Ito yung laruan kong GPS Locator with Parallax GPS module na connected sa Nokia 6210 via DRL-3P with PIC 12F675. Isang PIC12F675 ang naakaabang for incoming SMS na mag-iinquire ng "WerNaU?" at e ignore ang ibang messages. Kapag may nakatanggap ng tamang message, babasahin ng PIC12F675 ang reading ng GPS module serially with NMEA codes running at 2400bps, tsaka ibato sa N6210 at 9600bps using AT commands pasa sa nag-iinquire na texter.

Ang basic parts, GPS module ng Parallax (sa US ko pa na bili), N6210 with DRL-3P using 12F675, another 12F675 para sa over-all operation, 9V power supply para mobile ang operation at LM7805 regulator na naka heatsink kasi 100mA din ang draw ng GPS module. Ideally nakakabit ito sa 12V battery ng car for mobile operation at exposed ang GPS module for good satellite reception.

Ang na receive na Lat/Long coordinates (inset sa picture) ay e plot mo na sa mapa, o di kaya sa electronic map softwares. Gamit ko Garmin MapSource, pwede rin sa Google earth. Sa Garmin NUVI 200 ko pina Plot kapag mobile din ako.

Kaya may cable glands para di mapasok ng ulan kasi ang unit naka expose sa labas para kita ang satellites. Naka separate kasi yung GSM modem (N6210) at power supply. May ibang set-up din ako na GPS lang ang naka labas, indoor na the rest of the parts. Maganda yung ibang GPS module na may external na antenna para antenna na lang ang nakalabas.

Langyaka Kasamiko ..... heheheh.... iba pala tinatrack dito.

Naryg, simply lang circuit nito. Yung GPS module may serial output papunta sa isang pin ng 12F765. Naka connect din sa 12F765 ang TX at RX lines ng DRL3P from the N6210. May LM7805 ka na regulator para magsupply sa GPS module at 12F675. Halos ang software na sa 12F675 ang naglalaro dito na tiga check kung my incoming inquiry galing sa N6210. Kapag valid naman ang SMS na natanggap, babasahin nito ang ouput ng GPS module at ese-send back sa nagtext ang location ng GPS in Lat/Long format. Proton Basic gamit ko.
