Optical mouse sensors/Optical navigation sensors
« on: March 06, 2008, 08:15:37 PM »
I was wondering if we can use the following optical mouse sensors on our line following robots or for other optical sensing applications.

ADNS-2030, ADNS-2051, DNS-2610, ADNS-2620

they are all avaiable at  RS Philippines.

i'm familiar with the phototransistor and LED combo but that setup does not have automatic calibration and you need to calibrate it depending on the surface and contrast of your line and your floor. The AVAGO chip used on optical mouse has a built in automatic calibration which allows it to function properly regardless of the surface reflectivity.

interesting, reading from their datasheets it seemed possible, parang may builtin image sensor na siya.

anyway has anyone tried the image sensor of cypress for theses types of application.

parang maliit na camera yata yan na 18X18 pixels
I wish for this night-time to last for a lifetime
The darkness around me
Shores of a solar sea
Oh how I wish to go down with the sun
Sleeping
Weeping
With you

I walk alone
Every step I take
I walk alone
My winter storm
Holding me awake
It’s never gone

I fear that soon you'll reveal
Your dangerous mind
As your true colours show
A dangerous sign

ayos pala yang Optical Mouse Sensor mapag-isipan nga kung ano pa ang pwedeng application. madali lang naman ma-interface sa microcontroller yan.

I have used the infrared LED/sensor pair from optomechanical mouse. Im not sure kung ano device name nito but its a great sensor, or should i say the best sensor, for line following mobots.

I also built a tachometer using that infrared LED/sensor.

Ok rin at available na ito. But i think mahirap siguro how to use this since it requires the DSP chip if im not mistaken

gumamit din kami nito nung college for our project..
galing ung LED/sensor pairs sa mga lumang serial mouse..
yung sensor (black TO package, makinis yung front nya for daylight filter) is a phototransistor,
and yung LED (transparent package) is an infrared emitter.
