depende sa application yan e...

Industrial communications (RS-485) would normally use balanced lines...

USB uses balanced lines too (Differential Signaling)...

ang advantage sa differential signaling (now commonly used in ultra high speed data transfers mostly found on the motherboards of your computers) yung noise sa isang line, cancelled ng noise dun sa kabilang line...

If I am not mistaken ang data transmission ng RS-485 uses differential signalling pero balanced ito because ordinary twisted pair ang gamit and hindi coax. One good example ng unbalanced data transmission ay ang gamit ng mga old long haul microwave systems na ginagamit noon for E1. Ngayon we usually use a balun to convert the E1 BNC connection to RJ45 which is balanced.

Di maiwasan both needed to be used ....u cant ignore either in so many applications...

Audio systems alone have both Balance and Unbalanced configuration...
