Hello, Amad (that is the name of my grand uncle). Yes, buhayin natin. Location mo. Yung 888 mo related ba yan as 555 sardinas? Joke lang. VHF ba yan? I have VHF that could pump 45 watts. I could hit you if you are in Metro Manila maybe and has an antenna. My antenna 30 feet up broke si I ma using a simple dipole sa bakod.

Let me hear from you.

Hi sir BK

Yung nabibili lang po ito sa raon, gamit lang namin kapag nag i install nang mga solar panels

Amad, I started in 1978 with just a porable radio, Yaesu. Everybody thought I had a base. I was only putting 5 watts. The antenna is a very big factor kahit 5 watts. In HF, amateurs talk to each other using QRP radios which can be as low as 100 MW. The low side of the icom dati was 2 watts.

The Chinese radios are working well but their durability is an issue. Motorola has the best casing. Icom is midway. Ok na. Avoid those with digital displays. The readout is the first to go. I have friends who have Icoms with bad readout na. I kept a pair of 02N na de kamot, thumbwheel. NO LCD na madali masira. Go for manual. However, the better portables are those I mentioned, the UV82 in my previous post which has digital display.

The solution when the read out is damaged is to have a scanner at home. Push the transmit and you will the frequency you are in. Or if you have a second unit with a goods display. It can be the scanner.

In can be converted pero ma trabajo, converted to  thumbwheel. Parejo lang ang synthesizer nila. Motorola lahat yan kahit ICOM ang radyo.

Tell me you location is I can touch base with you sa radio but give your CP number kahit sa PM......so I can text you first then we try to contact each other.

You mean what a freq scanner is for. Well, you  an listen in over a wide range of frequency and know anong malakas sa area mo. You can earvesdrop. You can use it to know what your TX freq. is. It is a multi band receiver.

Sis, I suspect amny who bought th 888 are using it either directly in a small group with no outside antenna. or, if they do, it is low just for themselves. Or, they just do no entertain outsiders. Mostly I ould think they use it ffor security guards.

*** is in UHF. I am in VHF and I hear many stations and even talk to some. You can get the UV82 or any dual band. But if you want to QSO, put an outside base antenna.

I recommend the Slim Jim or if you have height, even a quarter wave "ting ting". What is your location?

You may contCT ME VIA CP: 0933275 5010.

888 ay pang 2km lang yata so small area lang coverage parang sa ad nila upto 5km. Minsan maririnig ko sa logistic lang mga hardware store. sir bk kaya ba ng 25watter from luzon tail hanggang sa inyo? with outside antenna.
