BTW, a transformerless 5V PS can be used here to really make this cheap and small.  No transformer, no relay.

yup. browsed ko yung buong 12 pages before ako post yung tanong ko.
and yan lang yung nakita ko.

"BTW, a transformerless 5V PS can be used here". gumamit kasi ng "can" yang statement uncle. not really sure kung naging "transformerless 5V PS was used here". wala na din kasing picture sa PS section.  ;D ;D ;D

I'm thinking of redesigning this to a hybrid thru-hole and surface mount, replacing the PIC with a cheaper version micro.  I'd like to remove the zero crossing opto triac driver and switch the output at the peak of the voltage.  It might still require detecting the zero crossing for proper timing.

Any thoughts on this?  Any other suggestions?

😀...
gumawa na rin ako nyan timedelay switch pag resume ng ac.,wayback sa panahon ni pres.Tabako na nagpauso ng brownout.,
base on 555 sardine este timer, tinimplahan
ko pa ng opamp window comparator para
imonitor ac voltage level bago iswitch on ref o aircon.
...sa ngayon may mga cheap mcu nga like ATtiny with onboard Timer at ADC na pwdeng pang hitech version nh timedelay switch ctlr.
ang timer para sa programmable time delay
at ang ADC monitor of incoming o dropping of ac voltage to protechcompressors..plus some bells and whistles to make it more hitech at the same time attractive na rin.

...ano sirZ umpisahan natin.
...NO OFFENSE pls..usapang teknikal lang, walang personalan.....

Yes, pero gusto ko tignan yung PIC10F322 SOT23-6, under Php30 lang sa RS.  Meron na ADC at sari-sari in a 6-pin, tiny package.

I'll get to it as soon as I clean up my workbench from the Cabonga project.

Unfortunately, we lost most my previous posted photos and schematics here.  But I was able to retrieve JPGs from my archives.  Here's the schematics of this POD:

This had been in development since some time in 2013.  I had made the PCB in 2014.

The component side of the 2014 PCB:

I put a small heatsink on the Triac.  It needs it.

Getting back to the circuit, the PS is a very common "Capacitor Dropper" which uses a capacitor instead of, say, a transformer or resistor to drop the mains voltage to a useful level.  This type PS you can find in low wattage 220Vac LED bulbs, LED night lights, LED flashlight chargers, etc.

In an old topic that I posted, it is even used in my IR remote controlled electric fan.  These circuits are non-isolated from the mains and are dangerous to work on, to say the least.  Since they can only give a few milliamps out, I made back-to-back, identical type isolation transformers so I can safely mess around with PS and not worry about blowing up my scope or electrocuting myself:

The primaries go to the mains 220/230Vac and outputs 220/230Vac on the 2nd transformer's secondaries.

This is the PS schematics:

Note that the 5V return is directly connected to the 220V mains source.  I don't want to risk hooking up my O'scope GND to this! :o
