in another thread i posted this:

if you like the sound of the Pioneer SX 770, circa 70's,
we are coming up with a DIY thread very soon,
the amp build will feature a phono stage, a tone control stage,
and a power amp stage using today's available trannies,
it will be a good build for the newbie,
not so expensive on parts and very easy to make..
watch out for it...
i built this amps in 1976 and i remember that it sounded really nice..
http://elektrotanya.com/pioneer_sx-770_sch.pdf/download.html

with the kind assistance of Willy, i would like to offer this to newbies
as a starting project, minus the tuner and mpx sections,
like i mentioned, this amp is nostalgic, i made a lot of this in the 70's...
i was able to scale this amp with rails as low as 36 volts to as high as 80 volts...

the original amp used a B+ of 48 volts, this amp board will give you options,
the other one is 84 volts for greater power, should one desire it.....
i used this amp with rails of only 36 volts and was quite happy with it...:D

for the 84 volt versions, TIP35C or similar  will be used
while for the 48 volt version, TIP41C...
i will explain design changes for the 84 volt version...

transformer requirements...

for the  48V rails, we have 32wpc into 8 amp....
a traffo capable of about 150VA is needed
secondary voltage is around 35 volts ac,
since we are using a 63volt cap, the rails can be 40 to 50 volts,
value is not that critical....

for the 85 volt rail amp, we have a 100wpc at 8 ohm amp...
a traffo capable of 400VA is needed...
we will be using at least a  10000ufd/100vdc ecap,
traffo secondary required is around 60 volts,
a center tap is needed, so that we need a 30-0-30 volts ac secondary
i will explain later why?

we are working on the power supply board, Wiljj78 designed all boards used here,
he will upload the pdf of the layout and then you can bring out your plantsa's and start
making the boards....
